Rejoice in the Lord Always, from the Mulliner Book
With Purcell, one of the two favourite settings of Philippians 4.4-7, the epistle 'Rejoice in the Lord' for the third Sunday in Advent. This edition starts from the premise that the owner of the Mulliner Book, John Stafford Smith, was well placed to know the words that the composer intended and the annotations in the manuscript are his. Working from the British Library's digital facsimile this edition offers an editorial word underlay to set Stafford Smith's words to Mulliner's notes with minimal adjustments.
